Project FOIE GRAS researchers belonging to groups at CNC, Portugal, CNR, Italy and APDP Diabetes, Portugal, attended 55th Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD 2019) held in Barcelona from September 16-20, 2019.
Getachew Debas (ESR4 CNC, Portugal) presented poster presentation: “Pentose pathway oxidation of glucose is a significant source of NADPH for de novo lipogenesis as evidenced by extensive transfer of glucose hydrogens into fatty acid position 3” – by Getachew Debas Belew, Joao Silva, Joao Rito, Ivan Viegas Jose Teixeira, Ludgero Tavares, Paulo Oliveira and John G. Jones.
John Jones (CNC, Portugal) gave a talk on “How to trace metabolic fluxes” and Amalia Gastaldelli (CNR, Italy) gave an oral presentation” The role of the liver in insulin resistance and clearance”. Both talks were part of the European Group for the Study of Insulin Resistance (EGIR) symposium.
Also present at the meeting was Paula Macedo from APDP Diabetes, Portugal.
