Ines Simoes (ESR1) – Best Presentation PhD Award at Summer School on Mediterranean Diet

Ines Simoes (ESR-1) and her supervisor Prof. Mariusz Wieckowski attended the 2nd edition of the Italian, Polish and Japanese Summer School on Mediterranean Diet which was held in Terni, Italy from 9-15 September 2018. The event was organized by ADI Foundation and Italian Obesity Network in collaboration with Diabetology and Nutrition Unit Santa Maria Hospital – Terni, Italy.

Prof. Mariusz Wieckowski presented a lecture entitled “Western Diet and Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease”.

Inês Simões`s presentation “The role of mitochondria and oxidative stress in the pathogenesis of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease” was selected by the jury based on technical merit, relevance, originality, knowledge of subject, quality of material, and quality of presentation to be awarded 1st Price in recognition of the Best PhD Presentation during the Summer School on Mediterranean Diet.
