Getachew Debas –(ESR4) did three months secondment at UNIBA, Italy under guidelines of Prof. Piero Portincasa. There he acquired hands-on experience on clinical aspects of NAFLD patients, which mainly involves intestinal permeability assessment and its correlation with the different stages of NAFLD in humans. Also, he studed a non-invasive technique (ultrasound, serology test, 13C-methacetin breath-test) to detect the staging of NAFLD, as well as learning about lifestyle habits which might improve the condition of NAFLD patients.
