ESR 2: Krebs cycle remodelling in NAFLD

Project Summary

This project will focus on the quantification of Krebs cycle fluxes in various animal models of NAFLD as well as in human Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) patients, using mass spectrometry and 13C -stable isotope tracers and noninvasive “chemical biopsy” analysis of hepatic metabolite enrichments.

Research will include methodologies for assessing 13C-enrichment analysis of plasma glucose and mass spectrometry and applying these data to metabolic models of hepatic Krebs cycle and gluconeogenic fluxes.
