Dr. Paulo Oliveira, the network coordinator of the FOIE GRAS project and member of the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology (CNC) participated at the Science in a family event organized by the CNC-UC and the Science Museum of the University of Coimbra. As a public outreach initiative, the activity was designed to explain to the general public, mostly families, what cells and mitochondria are, their function and the impact they have on human health and life. The participants made some very nice colored cells and had a lot of fun. This session was one of the many science communication activities that the FOIE GRAS has envisioned to develop to boost public awareness on Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD).
